CAR DONATION IN PHILADELPHIA
Philadelphia and its surrounding areas have a number of deserving charities that operate Car Donation schemes. It would be impossible to list all of these, however here are three of the more deserving causes that you can give old automobile to.
Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is a not-for-profit homeownership ministry dedicated to rebuilding communities and lives in Philadelphia. They claim that they don’t build houses for needy families, they build houses with them. They put in 350 hours of work on the construction site alongside thousands of volunteers. Volunteers are one part of what makes the houses they build affordable. The other part is a zero-interest mortgage that allows homeowners to pay back the cost of their house through monthly payments that they can afford.
To donate your automobile to Habitat for Humanity call 215-765-6000 x28 and they’ll get that heap out of your life and on track to helping a family realize the dream of a home of their own.
Bright Futures Farm is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization committed to a safe and dignified quality of life for horses that are no longer useful to their current owners. Many of these wonderful animals are Thoroughbreds and Standard breeds that can no longer race because of injury or inability to place consistently “in the money” (and otherwise sound). For many of these horses, the owner often sees no other useful purpose for the animal and sends it to an auction, which most often results in a cruel demise at a slaughterhouse.
You can help these horses by donating to Bright Futures Farm. Their scheme is run by Car Program LLC who can be contacted at 1-800-513-6560. Be sure to mention that you want to donate to Bright Futures Farm and a representative will arrange for your vehicle to be picked up within 48 hours.
If horses aren’t your favorite sport, how about greyhounds? The National Greyhound Adoption Program (NGAP) also has a car donation scheme. NGAP is a hands on organization, in many respects different from other charities in the way they handle car donations. Many other charities use third parties to field the calls, tow the cars, and auction houses to sell them. There are times when they may actually lose money on car donations. NGAP do not do this. All calls about car donations are answered at their office in Philadelphia. Most cars are picked up with their own tow-truck and all the cars are brought directly to NGAP to determine the best way to recuperate money.
NGAP is also an auto dealer and has the ability to sell donated cars directly to the public. They work with a number of auto wholesalers and only as a last resort send them to auction. If you donate a car to them you will know that the bulk of the money will stay with National Greyhound Adoption Program. They will also give you a gift of either a T-shirt or sweatshirt with each donation. If you bring your car to them, they will give you three shirts!!
