CAR DONATION IN DETROIT
Detroit and its surrounding areas have a number of deserving charities that operate Car Donation schemes. It would be impossible to list all of these, however here are three of the more deserving causes that you can give old automobile to.
The mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan is to prevent kidney disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it. Through its support and awareness campaigns NKFM promotes the cause of those unfortunate enough to have kidney disorders.
Your used car can provide much-needed funds for programs, education and research to help people with chronic kidney disease. Both running and non-running vehicles are accepted, but cars must contain all of their parts. Titles are necessary for donation and the program is ongoing, so vehicles are accepted anytime. To donate, call 1-800-488-CARS (2277). Donors are asked a few questions (year, make, model, does the car have all of its tires?) about the car and its location. Charity Motors will set a pick-up time and the tow company will call to confirm the time within 36 hours. A written confirmation of pick-up is left with the donor when the car is towed, and donors receive an official receipt in the mail when all paperwork is complete.
Dress for Success provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to more than 45,000 women in over 75 cities each year.
Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization that helps low-income women make tailored transitions into the workforce. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and a second suit when she gets the job. The Dress for Success program then provides ongoing support to help the client build a successful career.
Dress for Success Detroit is now working with Charity Motors to raise money to purchase a passenger/cargo van. They have had to turn down many donations because they were unable to pick them up. They also have a great need to transport clients from one site to another for meetings, job fairs and training. By donating a car or truck that may or may not be running you can help Dress for Success to reach their target.
Donate your running or non-running vehicle to Charity Motors. The proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Detroit. Call (313) 477-4982 for a donation sheet and more details.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul is a national organization that help the poorer in Society. . The basic work of the Society is the home visiting of needy neighbors done by the 2,000 members of the 200 parish conferences in the Archdiocese. The Matchan Nutrition Center, operated by Oakland County Vincentians and located at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Pontiac, Michigan, serves meals twice weekly at noon.
The Community Food Depots were established in 1982 in response to the growing need for emergency food. Here families can receive groceries to tide them over until they get back on their feet. Over 75 groups refer clients and donate food, money, and volunteers to our program. Hundreds of individuals support us with food, monetary, and car donations. Each year, the Food Depots and Parish Pantries give out food to over 10,000 persons. Together we carry on the work of St. Vincent de Paul who served the poor with dignity.
You can help the Society by donating your vehicle. E-mail lburgen@svdpdet.org with details of your vehicle. The Society does not use a Third Party to sell your car and will arrange pick up details with you.
